Digital Cut-Ups

These 'digital cut-ups' follow in the tradition of literary cut-ups - cutting a text to rearrange the parts and generate new possibilities for poetics. But here I work with my own digital images to bring something within the image to the surface. I play with the most basic of digital effects, including 'cut & paste,' giving attention to the limitations of the pictorial medium and thinking about what, exactly, we have 'captured' in an image. Many of the works here focus on segmentation and human encroachment on the environment amid a digital society obsessed with technological infrastructures.
